8 Feb 2022 : I received this letter
To whom it may concern.
I am trying to get the story out there of a young man serving the ipp sentence. He got ipp for attempted burglary and street robbery of a cigarette. He deserved his sentence of 2 years but because of the ipp sentence, this meant that there was no release date. He has spent almost 17 years inside and has never been released.
The ministry of justice mistakenly put on his file that he was a sex offender. He was beaten and scolded with hot water and scarred by inmates over a 7 year period. That s how long it took the MOJ to sort the mistake out. He has had a letter of apology from MOJ.
But he is still labelled as a sex offender. He fears for his life.
His mental health has deteriorated over time because of the indeterminacy of the ipp sentence. And being labelled as a sex offender made his time in prison horrific.
He is going to go on hunger strike in protest of his continued incarceration. I've advised him against this but he sees death as the only way to peace and freedom. There is more to tell about this young man. I do hope you can get an article out there about his cruel never-ending incarceration. Please take a peep at the website. There is everything you need to know about the ipp sentence in there.
I thank you for reading this.
Thank you

He self harms almost every day and has tried to take his own life. His mum and sister worry that they might get that dreaded phone call from the prison to say he has taken his own life.
I myself campaign against the ipp sentence and has organised a protest outside Downing Street on the 27th of April this year. His mum and sister will attend along with many families of ipp prisoners. We are asking the government to resentence all ipp prisoners. It is the only way to end the torture. I speak with this young man every week. Sometimes I can tell when he is feeling very low. It's very sad to listen to him.
