Mayor of Houghton Regis

Jimmy Carroll 2023-24
Jimmy Carroll has lived on Parkside since 1974, and before that lived in Tithe Farm from 1962.

He was born in 1959 in North London, where his parents originally resided before moving elsewhere.

He received his early education at Thornbury Infants School and Hillsborough Junior School, before continuing his studies at Queensbury Upper School.

Taking on several driving jobs, in November 1982 he joined the Bedfordshire Ambulance Service as a Patient Transport Driver. Advancing in his career, he moved to front-line Ambulance duties and qualified as an Ambulance Technician on June 8th 1984. As the role of the Ambulance Service evolved, on April 29th 1988, he gained qualification in Extended Ambulance Training Skills. Finally, he became a fully certified Ambulance Paramedic with the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Ambulance Service on November 27th 1992.

Departing the Ambulance Service in November 1999, from January 2000 until 2010 he was employed by the AA as a Recovery Patrol. Currently, he works as an HGV driver for Luton Borough Council.

Over the years, he has been actively involved in his local community through interests such as the Scout and Cub Scouts, the Houghton Regis Memorial, and the Houghton Regis Carnival.

First elected to Town Council in a by-election in July 2014, he has since gained reelection twice.
